If you’re a “frequent flyer” and visited one of our locations on a Friday, you may have noticed that we’re dressed a little more casually, wearing jeans and t-shirts rather than our usual business professional attire.
We’re going to let you in on a little secret.
It’s not *just* because we’re excited for the weekend (which, admittedly, we usually are!). Every one of our team members makes a bi-weekly donation which we donate to various charitable organizations on an annual basis.
The funds that were accumulated in 2019 totalled $3505.34 and were distributed to a variety of organizations.
Airdrie | Donated to Airdrie P.O.W.E.R (Protecting Our Women with Emergency Resources) which is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide women in Airdrie and District with the means to lean an abusive environment through emergency resources, education, and empowerment. They are working hard to create a safe and sustainable community. Learn more at: https://www.airdriepower.com/.
Bower Place (Red Deer) | Donated to WWF-Australia to aid in saving wildlife and forest restoration for the country, as they are in the grips of a nationwide bushfire emergency. Learn more at: https://www.wwf.org.au/.
Bow Valley, Strathmore, Westbrook | Donated to a single dad who has been battling multiple types of cancer over the past few years. As a single dad, he was struggling to give his two kids the Christmas they deserve. He was extremely shocked and emotional when the gift was delivered a few days before Christmas. It meant the world to him!
Parkland Mall (Red Deer) | Donated to the Australia Bushfire Emergency, which is working hard to save wildlife and when the fires have cleared, to restore lost forests. Learn more at: https://www.wwf.org.au/get-involved/bushfire-emergency#gs.w22ic6.
Taylor Drive (Red Deer) | Donated to the Red Deer SPCA, an adoption centre dedicated to the re-homing of unwanted, abandoned, and stray companion animals. Learn more at: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/ca/Alberta/Red-Deer-&-District-SPCA~9371/.
Medicine Hat Mall, Medicine Hat Kingsway, Procomm | Donated to support Halo Air Ambulance, the only dedicated medical rescue helicopter for their area. The availability of the helicopter decreases response time to trauma victims in remote or inaccessible areas. Donations are their only source of revenue. Learn more at: https://www.haloairambulance.com/.
Additional Funds | Donated to Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a treatment and an eventual cure for Pitt Hopkins and other conditions. Pitt Hopkins syndrome is a condition characterized by intellectual disability and developmental delay, breathing problems, recurrent seizures, and distinctive facial features. People with Pitt Hopkins syndrome have moderate to severe intellectual disability. Learn more at: https://pitthopkins.org/.
As you can see, dressing casually on Friday’s means so much more to us than the privilege of wearing jeans. It’s about being true to one of our (many) Consumer Solutions values: “We care about improving the communities we work and live in.” We so excited to continue our giving back initiatives throughout 2020, and hope you join us!
